New here and hoping somebody can help mk2 ford galaxy 1900 tdi  when I put the key in the ignition and turn it everything is fine apart from oil light it comes on normal then changes from red to amber and a high pitch tone and the light stays on even when engine is running I've topped up oil but light remains on
Also another problem luggage compartment lights are on all the time and won't go off also interior light at front stays on when doors are closed unless turned off by the switch

Hi Burtie and welcome along!

If you rev the engine will the light go out or stay on? The amber warning is generally because the level is low, if you know its not then its possible the sensor is stuck. When was the oil last changed? The sensor lives in the bottom of the sump, accessed from below by removing 3 bolts - ONLY when it's drained :)

The light was on when I had the car only had it a few days the last owner said he had it checked and was nothing to worry about when I checked oil it was low so I topped it up but the light stayed on

Ok, well the amber warning is nearly always due to low level - I would suggest the sender is faulty, unplugged or it's wiring is corroded. Have a look underneath as its easy to get to once the trays removed :)

Thank you for your help will check on that I'm sure the under tray is missing

well if it is missing i would asap replace it,as it can cause other problems with your car,ie steering etc.

Mine hasn't got the oil pressure sensor fitted in the sump (see photos here -->https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy/sump-refitting-degreasing-and-instant-gasket/).
Where else is it likely to be fitted? (Moe for OP's info than because I need to know)

Yes I've got the sensor in mine looked this morning the wire is hanging down a touch can't tell if it's damaged though bet ill check on a better day

If the undertray is missing it's possible the wiring has been damaged by the weather (corrosion) or driving over an object that has caught the wiring and pulled the connections.

That's my thoughts now I'm sure there is a split in the casing that goes round the wire
