sat nav system

I've got the tech pack which comes with the built Sat nav but it never loads the maps up properly, it just has a little arrow in the middle of the screen that goes round and round, is this a known issue or the system, antennae or disc that could be at fault? How easy is it to get hold of another disc? Plus the stereo unit has an auto phone volume adjustment but how would you hook a phone up? Would it be a cable in the back jobby?

Press the right hand knob down and it should revert back to the map screen
