Hello All,

I have returned to the Blue Oval after years away ââ,¬â€œ Family needs meant an RS/ST was not going to happen, but a shiny black 2.0 TDCi Auto Zetec is now ours. Iââ,¬â,,¢m loving the ultra smooth auto box, and the power from the TDCi unit (which isnââ,¬â,,¢t even run in yet!), but being a Zetec spec means there are a few niggles I need to address to be able to live with it.

1.   The central locking can only be activated from the Drivers side door when inside the car.  This means my wife cant lock the doors from inside the car if I have got out. What can I do to enable the central locking to be activated by either of the front door locks?

2.   Can anti hijacking be retro fitted/activated to allow the doors to lock automatically once the car is in motion?

3.   The computer has only basic functions which is annoying as I miss out on Cruise control.  Can the computer be upgraded to regain full functions and/or cruise control?

I hope I can find ways to easily/cheaply resolve these problems, and all advice will be gratefully received!

Thanks!

1 and 2, I believe yes using a stupidly long winded combination of lock, unlock 3 times headlight on/off etc. I'm not sure on the exact method as it's been a while since I did it but at the time (2010) it was the same across most of the Ford range.

You'd probably need to swap the instrument cluster over with one from a full trip car (and the stalk of course). On very modern car's this is just more hassle then its worth unless you have access to main dealer programming equipment.

If you have the Converse or Converse+ dash (not the red screen in between speedo and rev counter) there is a Russian guy who has hacked the software and can provide all sorts of upgrades/changes.

If you want cruise control (especially the predictive version) you will need to change/add quite a bit of stuff.  Either a new steering wheel or add the cc buttons to yours and a variety of sensors.  _If_ the wiring is in place, this may not be too onerous a task.  If it isn't......
