Hi all it's the dreaded MOT tomorrow. To be honest I forgot and it runs out tomorrow so have everything crossed. But I have noticed that 1 rear lower spring rubber looks abit well not right compared to the opposite one. I have tried to find what they are called and to see if any of you good people have had anything to do with them, how much can it be done with minimal fuss etc. many thanks Paul

Hi Paul, they are called spring isolators and are there to reduce cabin noise by isolating the spring from the rear subframe. I dont believe they are part of the MoT but changing them is fairly hassle free and IIRC they were about Ã,£12 a side.

Jack the back, compress the spring with spring clamps, undo the lower shock absorber bolt and then you can remove the spring and access the isolator.
Given the fairly cheap cost, I'd line up a set of rear shocks whilst you are doing it as if they've not been changed before they will almost certainly have a soft section of travel.
