Hi,

Just on here for a bit of advice as im not overly familiar with fords diesel setup! Im more of a BMW enthusiast.

I've been trying to diagnose a problem with a Galaxy mk3 2006 with 145K on the clock.

No noise at idle but when the engine speed increases its almost similiar to an air leak but high pitched. Ive checked all the turbo pipes for leaks, even removed the pipe before the inlet manifold at revving the engine to reduce the pressure in the pipes and the noise is still there.

I've also removed the aux belt ran the engine briefly the noise is still present?

Its not the turbo as we already tried that option!

MY thoughts where possibly a sticking egr valve where the air is whistling through a partly stuck valve. the engine seems to drive ok.

Or a water pump/pulley issue on the timing belt.

However all the noise appears to be coming from the rear of the engine, there is no soot around the back end to indicate a leaking exhuast manifold.

Also it is throwing a code engine massair/ boost pressure mismatch. cant remember the number but when i looked at the car i found a sensor on a air pipe just before the inlet manifold disconnected which has since been reconnected.

Any informative advice would be appreciated.

Just to note I know my way around a socket set ive worked mostly bmw cars for years including engine rebuilds etc and im an aircraft technician by trade, so as you can imagine im keen not to let this one beat me.  I just find fords engine setup on these very unuser friendly to say the least!

My thanks in advance.
