Hi
I posted recently about my starting issues with my galaxy. Anyway a bit of research and speaking to a mechanic friend I checked my oil level and it was sitting quite high and very watery/thin.
If the fuel pump is goosed or seal more to the point then the diesel leaks into the oil, causes intermittent starting problems blah blah so I'm told.

Anyway, got another one albeit second hand but before I go and do this is there a gasket between it and the head? If so is can it be bought as my "new pump" looks as though it's had a gasket but doesn't come with one, or can the one already on the car be used again?
Is there anything I should be expecting when I change the pump?

All advice gratefully recieved!!

Thanks chris much appreciated.  There's not alot of info on this subject, and it's not even covered in the haynes manual.

II'll stick up photos of replacement and update to see if it cured the probem!

I've a few other posts to put up...drive shafts and strange vibration rumble thingon tickover.

Getting to the bottom of things hopefully!

I haven't changed the pumps yet as the replacement must be off of a sharan or Alhambra, so there is a very sligh difference, to the appearance anyway, can anyone confirm that the fuel pumps used were/are the same on each model. From 2000-2006? Just before I go ahead and start stripping it down to find out its not going to fit!

The replacement pump is off a 2004 model sharan from memory.
Mine is a 2004 galaxy.

Also is it as straightforward as it looks or am I going to run into some dodgey bolt I can only get off by dislocating my elbow and wrist to get to?

Merci bien!
