door remote

I've never had a door remote for my galaxy since I have owned it, does anyone know how to get one and roughly  how much it costs

It depends how many working keys you have now (by working, they start the car). If you have two then you'll be in for a cheapish job as you'll just need a second hand fob, get a blank key cut and you can do all the coding yourself. (Locking and Starting)

If you have one then it'll be more expensive as you can't code the immobiliser (Starting) yourself, just the Locking.

They weren't fetching good money last time I looked so you may be able to pick one up cheaply - if you aren't worried about it starting the car then I suppose you could just grind off the key and simply use the fob for locking and the existing key for starting...

does anyone on here have a door remote for sale?. I will tell you my woes I bought one from someone for Ã,£16 but it didn't work so I took it back, got the usual it worked when you bought it pal, so after I'd got him ooops sorry it sorted I'm a bit wary of buying another, unless its from somewhere I would trust and thats not evilbay so can anyone help me. Oh yeh I only have 1 key so will have to use next key as just a door remote, I would also need info on how to code it as my mate who tried the other is to ill to help anymore

yeah ive got 1,comes with a black pats chip,
i was in the same boat as yourself,so bought another remote just to open the doors.was working when i had my 03 mk2 ghia,but that was nearly 2 years ago.

if your near me i would help you program it to your central locking.

gregers mentioned to me he had a number on his remote key....but I cant find any similar numbers on mine

I guess he means the frequency the remote operates at.  If you have a remote key already it is moulded into the passing on the side where the CE mark is. Mine for example is a 5WK4 790/97/98 with the frequency in every smaller text above that I need a magnifying glass top read but is I believe 433.92MHz. OK I cheated and took a picture on macro then zoomed in on it!

aaaawww shoot just realised my one and only key is not a remote key its just a plain one ie:- no buttons. Is there any other way?
