Front Wiper Woes

Hello - have an issue with the front wipers. Basically they only wipe a quarter of the screen, and intermittently stick in one place and judder back and forth across the screen. If anyone can suggest a reason/fix/solution then i'd be very grateful. Only place near me that sells a replacement is euro car parts at Ã,£294 quid! ouch. (including all local breakers yards) know they are on ebay but not sure which will fit my galaxy 2005 130ps tdi ghia. anyone know the part number? Thanks!

Almost certainly that's the wiper mechanism sticking. Take a read here:

Literally as i was typing this reply i found the exact problem in the help library! did check first though albeit not thoroughly enough! thanks Mirez - yet again!

No worries - happens

It sounds like it's in the early stages so if you catch it quickly you should be able to save the situation. It's when people leave it that the motor burns out and/or the spindles seize entirely. Good luck!!

How simple a job is it? i'm thinking take a printout of your guide, and let a good mechanic i know have a go at it - i don't have grease or tools!

Also if it does work out to be fatal what do i have to look out for in terms of ebay? would this do? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111103557747?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

or would i need a year specific example? it matches the 2005 alhambra 1.9 tdi 130........

You'll need good diy skills, as there are some fiddly bits and if you aren't mechanically minded then it could be tricky. Its all atitude to be honest, aproach slow and steady with no time frame and you should be fine.
