slow creep after selecting drive

Hello, Bloodnok here
Having newly acquired a Galaxy mk2  (2002) it is fine except when selecting drive from neutral, release the brake, there is no creep for 3-4 seconds and then it gradually goes forward. Every thing is fine unless I go back to neutral. then that slight delay.

probably wrong,but i always thought on an auto once foot was off the brake peddle and in drive they always creep.
bit like taking your foot off the clutch in a manuel tdi slowly and the torque of the engine pulls it???

Possibilities


1. Fluid condition & level check
2. check diagnostic system for fault codes
3. low pump pressure internal leaks
4. faulty solenoids
5. brake light switch faulty or adjustment

Many thanks for your replies, as I am to old (75) to carry out any jobs on this car, I am fortunate to have a kind friend who is willing to help. He is a Motor engineer by trade doing private work. I understand you can buy the lead for diagnostics and the software is free, I have been told that not all the fault codes are revealed, only Ford can do that  is this true?

In a word - No! The auto gearbox is a VW (VAG Group) one mated to the Ford 2.3 engine which will make life a little awkward The engine will respond to the conventional OBD2 software where the gearbox will ONLY talk to VAG type software. I'm not aware Ford have anything that can read VAG (they normally have to send the V6 engine'd car's to VW for advanced diagnostic).

So to sum up, because I've rambled a little, you would need an OBD-2 piece of software to talk to the engine and VCDS (or similar) to talk to the gearbox and other modules around the car.
