Hi All

The sensors do not work on my Galaxy. Sometimes a continuous sound starts as soon as I put the car in reverse, but there is no sound when near an object from either front or rear. Any ideas please. Thanks

Buy a VAG-COM cable (Ã,£10 on ebay) and use the free VCDS-LITE/VAG-COM software form Ross-Tech.  It will tell you which sensors are or aren't working if any.

It could be a faulty sensor, faulty wiring or the controller. Using the above is the easiest way to narrow it down, and you don't even need to get your hands dirty!

I took advice from this forum the other day on the same topic - Ã,£6.75 for the cable and free software from ross tech and you can diagnose any problem on your car as well as the parking sensor. My fault was exactly as you describe yours - the vag-com told me it was a right centre front parking sensor fault - bought sensor from ebay for Ã,£20, swapped in and hey presto up and running! good luck! woohoo

There seams to be a number of cables on Ebay priced from about Ã,£5.00 to Ã,£40.00 and they have various interfaces. Is there any particular plug I should be looking for and where does it plug into the car. i assume the other end of the lead is a standard USB that goes into the computer. Thanks

yep - me too - bought and used the above cable with the software from ross tech within the last week. Worth really following the instructions that come with the cable exactly - i was messing around for ages and although it sounds complicated is straightforward. Just don't use auto full scan as it wont/probably wont work - you need to analyse the parking aid controller individually.

Thanks all.

I have ordered. Can't wait to get it sorted.

Did you fix this problem?
I have the same fault and followed advice from another forum and put it in reverse and put my ears up to each sensor in turn to see which ones clicked.

All except two on the rear did and i am considering buying two new sensors, although i am a little put off as they are Ã,£25 each on ebay (was quoted Ã,£80 from Ford!), and i have read also that they can still click if they are faulty, so i'm not rushing to but yet.

The tick-test is a really very basic test - but if it's not ticking then it's always a fail. If the wiring's good to it then you have at least two duff sensors and possibly more - hence a VCDS test is a good start!

I'll get myself the cable and software then. Silly not to if its that price. I have done without parking sensors this far in my driving life but as they are there they might aswell work!

lol - that's my sort of thinking! If it's fitted it will work!

Where about's are you? There may also be someone local who can do a vcds scan for you?

I'm in Norfolk. I might give my trusty local mechanic a ring and see, he's a one man band so i assume he will have all sorts of things like this.
