I know I am late posting this but: at 25 years old and at 234,000 miles---the car passed its mot this year !!   it did need a new rear spring about 2 months ago )so I bought a pair of APEC springs off ebay, brand new & delivered for £52  !!     I also had to repair rust on N/S/F A-post that was badly corroded...fibreglass filler into the split then P38 over the top.    its still plodding along happily but needs new drivers seat foam or a full seat swapped into it in the new year.  I do not know how many members are still active on here, but keep on rolling if you can  :)

Well done on another year, don't see many about now and this site is sadly near end of life and interest although I still look in daily but over a month since last post ;)

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Sorry if I am a bit late with this, but very well done to daddyfixit for conquering the MOT at 234,000 miles. We are only on 155,000, so have a bit of catching up to do... Solentview

PS! daddyfixit - you mention corrosion on the n/s/f A-frame. Is that in the actual door return where the hinges hang - or is it higher up? We have some surface corrosion in the n/s/f return where it follows the sweep of the front windscreen and it seems to be associated with the heavy rubberised/felt soundproofing that seals off that top section of the door. Does anyone know whether that sealing strip can be released easily and than put back into place, without damage?

right at top corner of windscreen on passenger side.  The roof strip comes off easy under bonnet but was really tight near rusty area---pulled half of it away !But its looking ten times better than before, now to do drivers wing were it attaches near sill!  Its the ideal car for me to get into/sit upright after back surgery, so I intend to keep it mobile as long as possible.
