Hello there,

I bought my first Alhambra last year and I love that car. Its 2006 1.9 TDI 85kW 5-speed automat (213k KM/ 132k MI). I wanted to change oil in automatic transmission, but at car service they told me that they donĀ“t recommend me to do that. They told me that there is a risk of malfunction of tranmission after oil exchange. Do you have any experiences with this guys? Or what ist your recommendation?
Thanks for all answers.
I drive Seat Alhambra 2006 1.9 TDI with automatic 5-speed gearbox.

I've heard that quite a lot recently but treat it with the contempt it deserves. The 'risk' is that new fluid disturbs the dirt which can then clog galleries but the reality is that older oil is more damaging.
I'd certainly recommend replacing the oil, the solenoids on these get lazy over time with dirty oil.

Thank you for your answer. What can be done to prevent clogging or what have to be done after it happens?
I drive Seat Alhambra 2006 1.9 TDI with automatic 5-speed gearbox.

Could you clean out the gearbox with brake fluid or something while the cover is off so as to remove all the grime, then dry it off and fill it up with the proper oil?
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

What I meant is that the AG box on these isn't really susceptible to clogging but people give the line that you shouldn't change the oil because of it. Just change the oil, clean oil is super important on ANY auto box.
