A lot is said these days about "Outriggers".

But how many of you know what they are and what they do.

The English dictionary defines an outrigger as follows: "An outrigger is a projecting structure on a boat, with specific meaning depending on types of vessel. Outriggers may also refer to legs on a wheeled vehicle that are folded out when it needs stabilization, for example on a crane that lifts heavy loads."

Now I hear you ask, my motor car is neither a boat nor a crane, thus what is its outrigger?

My definition as far as the car is concerned

An outrigger is a box section (in the Galaxys case) that runs 90 degress from the main chassis (front to rear) to the inner sill front floor pan area.
