Hello, friends.

I have been spending a lot of time thinking about fuel filters, lately.

Tell me, how often should one change the fuel filter in a 1.9TDi Alhamb?

I do mine yearly but I donââ,¬â,,¢t want to disturb the o-ring seals unnecessarily because I donââ,¬â,,¢t change them because it looks really fiddly and the fuel filters donââ,¬â,,¢t come with them anyway.

Thank you, thank you all very much.
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

My Hyenas manual says to drain it every 10,000 miles or 12 months
(presumably to remove any water collected in the bottom of it)
and renew it very 20,000 or 24 months

I change every other oil change. So usually every 2 years.

Fuel is generally much cleaner then it used to be so the need to filter isn't "quite" so important. Its like the 'drain off the water' requirement, unless you've been doing lots and lots of little journeys in very cold temperatures you are unlikely to ever see much water in the filter. Personally, I do it every 4th service (but then I service at 6K intervals).
