Child seats can they be swapped?

I've a 2016 with leather child seats at either side of the middle row. I wondered if the bases could be changed for the two rear seats as my kids don't need them. They are hard to sit on! We rarely use the rear seats.
Our middle seat is a standard one so moving that is one option too. Anyone done this?

Fairly sure that's not possible, the seat bases are different part numbers which would indicate they aren't interchangeable :(
03 Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI 115 Ghia in Spruce Green Metallic
With cream leather interior, Full Bodykit, Remapped at 145bhp, Lowered on 18's
17 Volkswagen Touareg 3.0 V6 Diesel in Slate Blue
262Bhp AWD and Factory fresh...for now!
58 Ford Transit 2.2 TDI 115 in Frozen White
With retrofitted everything except another slidey door! :)
LAUNCH X431 Pad PRO - Scanning & Coding for all makes and models done in Wiltshire in exchange for winegums! :)

Ok thanks, Looks like I'll be looking for 2 standard black leather middle seat bases then or  I could maybe swapp them for someone who wants the baby seats as they were an expensive option I think.

Have you physically tried it? My old 2003 Galaxy had a child special seat, the mechanism to sit it in the floor slots is identical.  I used to put the left 3rd row seat into the middle row no problem,  or the right 3rd row into the right middle.
Nothing to stop you trying, except the hernia lugging them about.

Iââ,¬â,,¢m quite sure any seat will fit in any position. Although you have to remember only some go left or right depending on the seatbelt buckle. The middle one will fit anywhere as it has a buckle either side, obviously no other seat will fit in the middle.

2016 is a mk3 tho with fixed fold down seats

Not knowing the mark 3 I would say you have pretty much answered own question with the seats being fixed fold down, they will fit in the positions they are designed for by sound of it.
Only option I can see if trying to find middle row seats that do not have the child seat part so you can swap them over. Seriously doubt you would be able to swap for rear row

I do apologise, I thought we were talking about a MK2.
The rear seats are completely different in back of a MK3 to that of the middle row.

Also, a 2016 is going to be a MK4 isnââ,¬â,,¢t it?

I was hoping the Seat base only may be removed and replaced with a standard seat base. In other words dismantle each outer seat. Just sold my Mk 2 which has the removable seats unlike the Mk 3.

Maybe have a look on ebays or at the breakers yard to see if u can get some new seats for the middle row? I imagine the kid ones probably contain all sorts of ingrained muck and dirt anyways, such is the nature of little ones he he
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.
