bonnet catch mk2

can only open bonnet with assistance
i.e.  some one lifting bonnet

where is the most likely place for the cable to detach
the interior hanle is pulling cable ok, but not enough to operate  trigger.

any ideas?

Got bonnet open OK
checked movement,not obvious movement.
in catch unit
removed two 10mm bolts and got unit off car.
dismantled cable unit from catch.
took it to bench.for better look.
found that catch release lever was not moving.
Lashings of wd40 released spindle.
regreased unit and replaced in bonnet.
checked operation using a screwdriver instead of bonnet
bar.
was OK so closed bonnet and it works.

I had tried WD40 on the catch while fixed to car
but could not free it up
needed stripping to get unit working properly
