Hi
I have a 2005 VW Sharan sport. 130bhp tdi engine code ASZ

The EGR valve is leaking oil and I think it needs replacing, I cleaned it out a year ago hoping it would be ok, but still leaks oil now.

The current EGR is Wahler, so probably not the original one that came with the car, I think the last 4 digits are 637L, but I can't read any more and I'm not even sure if this is correct code as I think it is not the original VW EGR.

Can someone tell me the correct oem code for a replacement, and also what recommended brands that won't fail prematurely.

Also the engine appears to be blowing oily residue at the junctions of the crankcase breather hose, these are just push fit but oily residue is still escaping from both ends (valve cover end and air intake end), so I assume that the rubber has become stretched and the seal is not tight enough. I can't seem to find a replacement for this except second hand which might be no better. Is anyone able to help with a solution. Code on the hose is 7M3129 626B
thanks in advance
Chris

I would say wahler is original equipment as itââ,¬â,,¢s a make used by several German car makers. Should be easy enough to sort one out though as itââ,¬â,,¢s a common engine across the vag range.

Stick some jubilee clips on the hose, sure thatââ,¬â,,¢s what I did with mine to stop the oil mist from breather hose

Thanks so much for your help Johnny

You are quite right, it looks like Wahler were original part supplier for EGR. I have now ordered one, so hopefully this will sort things for me, along with the jubilee clips.
cheers
Chris

I still wonder why so many oil comes out of the cranckcase breather hose (maybe bad (designed) PCV valce?). I also wanted to replace the EGR valve but i'm not sure it won't leak too and to me it feels like covering up another problem.
I own a MK1 1999 2.3 DOHC Ghia & 2003 1.9TDI Trend.
