Hello all,

I am very new here. And before telling my problem I would like to thank you all for sharing all info you got. I have already fix two problems with the information Iââ,¬â,,¢ve got from here. My problem is:
When I stop engine and remove key odometer and clock is still on( as it should be), but exactly 60 min after lock the door, clock and trip dissapears and when I unlock the door appears again but all 0.0 This begins with a depleated battery and broken alternator. I have only jump started.
So far I have tried with an another instrument cluster.- same
I have checked the fuses- all OK
I have connected another 12 V supply from ciggarette lighter plug- everything as it should be.

Something disconnecting cluster from the battery. Is there any fuse that can be causing this? Is there a wiring diagram for my 02 Sharan AUY engine.

Thanks in advance.

Check the aux fuse box on battery for cable damage.

Check services splice on passenger side as they are known to corrode.

Both faults have write ups in ref library

Just noticed you are non UK so maybe different to UK spec cars. Not sure if itââ,¬â,,¢s still same side of car or if it changes to other side

I'd have a check of the rear hatch wiring as well, and check that each door open/close works properly (there should be a red light on the middle of the dash cluster indicating door open, does this go on/off with every door?).

Reason I'd check the rear hatch wiring is I've had issues there causing the backlight to come on when it shouldn't do (like when the brakes are pressed). If wires there have broken insulation (which given its a Galaxy is very likely) then that can cause some strange issues. Less likely to be a door wiring issue unless anything else you haven't mentioned doesn't work (windows or door locks most likely there to be problematic).

I noticed your lately responses. I had issues with the door locks. It use to lock one or two doors. And the rest remain unlock. Then start another strange thing, when I lock the doors it locks and unlocks by itself after afew Seconds.
I have checked all the cables that can be broken but there was nothing. Somehow there was low voltage on the powerline, which provide power to the door lock actuator. I fix it by connecting an extra cable to that line from door light which is underneath the door. It is working now.
And I removed the cloth tape today and looked for that joint. Of I am not mistaken it seems all fine. I found it on the left side, driver side for me. I will attach the photo of that joint.

Cheers

I have also checked the wiring on the back. But checked the wiring between hatch door and chassis. I havent removed the plastic cover and trims of the hatch. Shall I also check for the wiring underneath the plastic cover?

Usually its the bit under the boot (the rubber bit that flexes as the boot opens and closes) that is the area that breaks.

Photo of the bit I mean (showing the state of the first Galaxy I had when first looked inside) is attached.

The locking and unlocking can be down to either a faulty lock (can be worth looking from inside to see if one lock doesn't move, if so thats where your fault is) or more likely broken wires in the doors (again, this would be the rubber boot bit in the hinge area, can be easy to miss a single broken wire though so check carefully when your looking)

Cables look like they are in the same place even if the car is LHD rather than RHD,as they are on the lefthand side in mine same as you found. As long as that joint is attached together and not corroded you should be fine (it usually gets corroded due to a leaky rear washer pipe that runs though the same path to the rear hatch). Photo suggests its ok to me from here?
