pcv valve membrane, has anyone checked or replaced it yet?

hey,
I'm trying to make the tdi engine a little cleaner as it is covered in dirt and oil and I was thinking about installing an oil catch can and replacing the leaking egr valve. I was searching on the web and I found something on ebay: a pcv valve membrane.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-9-TDI-ANU-AUY-ASZ-BTB-BVK-CRANKCASE-BREATHER-OIL-SEPARATOR-REPAIR-MEMBRANE-PCV-/254196388951

Can this membrane break down and cause more oil loss instead of blaming the turbo seals and the pcv valve assuming it is still ok? I maybe would like to check this valve but at first I would like to hear your thoughts about it. Has anyone ever checked or replaced this thing?

many thanks

Yes it can break down,if it does then it will not close off when in boost so oil can be drawn up the breather hose and in to inlet pipework.

Be careful though as the plastic rocker covers can warp when removed on the AUY, I had that problem when I did head gasket after some research VW donââ,¬â,,¢t sell gaskets but it is a new cover job due to the issue being common.

Ok, then I better leave it in place. Is there a way tot verify it is working as it should without removing the cover? I can imagine those covers won't come cheap

Only way I could think is taking oil cap off and getting someone to rev engine up to see if it creates a vacuum?
