I have just pruchased a V reg Galaxy ghia and the heater blower is not working.

It is not the model with the knobs for the heating and i have been told that apparently it is a relay that is faulty.

Any advice on this would be appreciated and even a price where i can get one from.

Many Thanks
Boxecutor

hi mate, i also have the ghia mk1 so im guessing its digital climate control, if so does it even come on? i had issues where it would flash for a while before coming on and this needed a fault code clearing.
if it doesnt even come on i would check the fuses but might also be worth getting the lead and downloading the software to connect to a laptop etc. i have a few issues im trying to sort and seems to be that the fault codes help to get the right advice.

hiya. got the same issue with mine. mines v reg too lol. could be down to fuses/ relay 114 on the second layer of the fuse box under the steering wheel or the resistor pack{hedgehog} that is in the plastic air ducting behind the glove box.your looking for a red block with a multi plug wired into it.let us know if you solve the fault.  8)

Hiya both, yeah it is digital climate control and yes it comes on and flashes for 10 seconds or so then display stays on but heater blower wont blow on any setting.

what lead and software do i need to get to hook it up ?

will check the fuses/ relay ect as mentioned and hopefully that will solve it - will advise as soon as i played.

thanks for the replies

Flashing display means a fault code has been stored

Check the link below for info on lead and software.

Any ideas on relay 114 have looked at fuse box have got 149, 185, 411, 143 and 2 404 on second layer no others and no empty sockets for a relay that havent got one in on second layer.

Third layer has 2*100, 167, 30 and a couple of meaty fuses and that is all.

Cannot find 114 anywhere no a place where it lools like it should go.

Galaxy mk1 2.3ghia.

Cheers

wondering if you have over looked relay 114 on the second layer..............  i did this as it is installed sideways so the writing aint easily readable. saying that yours is a 2.3 im assuming petrol? so they may be another fuse box under the bonnet  with it in depending on what factory extras are on your car. ;) was the heater working when you bought the car or was it knackard like mine when you got it?  :-\ another fault that can stop the fan working is the brushes in the motor worn out or a partialy siezed/seized motor. id check the motor to see if its at fault. i took mine out and put 12 volts from a car battery direct to it to see if it powered up.hold the back of the motor very tight and watch you fingers coz if it is working it spins very fast lol. doesnt make any difference which way you wire the motor up to 12 volts. if you get the wiring wrong......... live to earth the motor will spin backwards but wont hurt it. hope this helps  :D let us know if it cures it. 8)

Well have tested hedgehog resistor and blower motor and both are OK.

Still cannot find the elusive 114 relay though have checked and double checked but it is no where to be found in the fuse box at any level 1st,2nd or 3rd. So some help on locating it would be good have listed above on earlier post what relays I have.

Becoming frustrated looking for 114. Lol

Well further update.....  went to dealer today and 114 relay should be relay 15 on second level. On checking mine have no relay there nor is it that it should be there and has been removed. Haven't got the auxiliary fuse box under the bonnet either so am totally at a loss as to where the mysterious 114 relay has gone.

Any help would be appreciated as am getting to a point where I now am going to have to pay to put it in a garage to get it done. :(

Cheers

The 114 relay is shown in the vw manual for some models so you are probably looking for something that's not fitted to your model can you go to your blower and check the two connectors.
Remove connections from motor.
Do you have 12 volts to one lead when ignition is on or is it dead.

Have checked and completely dead at connections for heater motor when ignition on.

ny advice please on where i can find the 114 relay when it is not in the back of the fuse box.

Your looking for the Relay marked K124 in this diagram:

The diagram of the layout shows K 124 in position 4 & 19 early and late models respectively so your relay should be in the forth row right hand side.
The fuse supply is fuse 22 30amp for front blower and fuse 21 25amp for the rear, check these fuses are live.

Ok many thanks both for that info. And yes position 4 is blank. Position 19 has a relay in but it is marked 185 which I believe is ignition would this relay still be the cause as everything else is working ok just no blowers.

Also have checked the fuses and are ok but will check they got a live feed which I forgot to check like a muppet.

Thanks for the help most appreciated.

Relay 185 is the immobiliser relay

We should compose a list of the production numbers on the relays, Chris can you let me have a list of the ones you know?

so i assume that means that relay wont be anything to do with the heater blower.

mythed still and think gonna have to put it in the garage.

cheers for the help all.

If possible could you post some clear pics of your relays and the empty sockets.

just a daft thought but im wondering if someone at some point in the cars life has fitted a relay from a vw sharan/seat alhambra as the relays that control the heater blower are a different part number/code.......... dont have 114 stamped on them. :)from what ive heard the vw/seat relay are cheaper from the dealership than from ford and do the same job. just a idea. 8)
