Possible Electrical Fault on Electric Windows

Greetings everyone, I have had a look in the library and I can't see anything related to this problem.  My two front and nearside widows have started to come down of their own accord.  And I have no idea why they do it. I have started to lock the Galaxy manually with the key in the hope that that would cure it but no.  They just all come down on their own for no reason that I can fathom. I checked them last night before I went to bed and they were fine. When I woke up this morning they were down again and it was raining so I had to rush out to put then back up. Also the doors are still locked and the alarm never goes off. Has anyone come across this problem before?  It is driving me mad,  >:( tommy

Start with the wiring in the doors check for splits ect, also any seals or dents as it could be triggering the auto stop feature

Thank you Jakehands, there are no dents and I think the seals are fine.  So it looks like I am going to have to take the inside door panel off then. Which means having to wait for a day when it isn't bloody raining. But thank you for your advice ad help, tommy.

Assuming you don't have rear electric windows? If not, and the fronts are coming down together its more then likely global opening being triggered. This can be a sticking door switch but (as above) far more likely to be shorting wires within the gaiters :(

The alarm will only go off if its equipped with interior scanning. IF it's only got front electric windows I would assume its an LX or Zetec spec in which case it was an optional extra.

I'd suggest whilst your trying to fix it, to stop them going down in the meantime, pull the fuse F65 out of the holder. That should be enough to stop them being able to open while you don't want them to (like when its raining and your not in the car).

You don't need to take the door panel off to inspect wires initially - pull the gaiter off its end and you will be able to get to the wires (it just slips over it). You might need to take it off to actually fix them (to give extra wire to work with) but you need to find which of the doors it is first. Drivers would be my guess, and if its only got a lock on that door, then I can't see it being the others (earlier ones had locks on both front doors).

Thank you everybody for you kindness, time and energy. But I am afraid that this problem is beyond me. So I will have to take it to a professional. Hopefully it won't cost to much. Thank you all tommy

Hey @Tommy.M, where abouts in the SW are you?

If you had been closer I would have taken a look for you as I'm also in the SW but at the other end of it!
