Hello i got a galaxy 04 2.3L a few days ago and drove fine, but then all of a sudden it died out on me, now it wont stay on for more than a few mins before cutting out, i replaced the crankshaft sensor as my friend said it could be the issue but then i found something (picture Below)
[attachimg=1]

1: Could this be causing the issue of the engine stopping?

2: How can i fix this?

3: if it isnt the issue any idea on what it could be please

Thanks for any help im offered, dont want to put my kids into a car that could just cut out on me and leave us in the middle of nowhere.

1: Yes
2: unbolt that cable and see if the fusebox can be salvaged, if not get a new one (They can be had for about Ã,£30 online)
Cut the cable thats melted back to good cable, adding an extra bit on to get it to fit if needed and SOLDER a new connector on (don't just crimp it that will only cause it to happen again)
3: Look into relay 30 - the other fusebox inside the vehicle has a relay thats prone to developing dry joints and will cause the engine to die if the joint comes apart. Either replace the relay, or prise the cover off it and resolder the joints (best to use a desolder pump to remove the old solder and apply new solder to it)

Both of the above bits are common failure points on these, but relatively easy to fix (you will need a blowlamp for the soldering on the cable though)

Thank you for the reply i will look at some local shops near me that sell spares for ford and vauxhall see if they have one but the part does look to be for VW or Auldi, as for the wire i will look into replacing the whole thing, just to be safe.

Thanks again will reply when my friend has done the repairs and let you know.

Mine came off ebay - Avoid the ones with the angled battery connector, they don't reach the correct place i found. One example here

Worth being aware that one of the thicker wires supplies the alternator charging to the battery. Also read the attached link, would suggest you solder the new cable to avoid it happening again in the future.
