Near side rear door inoperative - no power?

Hi, I'm hoping some of you knowledgeable lot can help me out.

We've a 13 plate Galaxy TDi, it replaced our previous family bus (Dipatch Combi) and has been a much nicer vehicle to drive.

It's developed an annoying fault though, the rear near side door has no power - it won't release the child lock (and displays shows child lock error) but also the electric window doesn't operate.  Had it been just the lock I'd have put it down to the usual suspect the motor, but the window leads me to assume there's no power to the door.

Prior to the fault it operated fine, the boss did have to get a jump start a day or two before she noticed the door problem but thinks the door worked fine after.  As a family vehicle we're a little cautious using it for all of us as the door cannot be opened at all.

Thanks

C

Greetings my friend, and welcome to the world of owning the worldââ,¬â,,¢s finest multi purpose vehicle, the ford galaxy/seat alhamb.

Why not check the wires where they come out of the door and go through that little rubber tube that connects them to the main bodywork of the car. That bit is always rubbing away and the wires usually break there. You may be able to fold the rubber back so as to visually inspect for a broken wire!

Hereââ,¬â,,¢s hoping itââ,¬â,,¢s a nice easy fix for your lovely shiny ââ,¬Å"13ââ,¬Â registration multi purpose vehicle. Looked after properly, you could easily expect to get a lifetimes worth of usage out of that car proving the government doesnââ,¬â,,¢t ban the internal combustion engine for motoring purposes in the next 30 years.
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

Thanks - it was first on my list of things to do.... if I could access it as the door is locked and won't open.  However made a stupid assumption based on the feed to the front doors - and on looking I can access the rear door wiring.

I've just been and had a fiddle - gently manipulating the wires through the rubber gaiter to see if its a split - no joy - so I'll have to investigate how to take it off and have a better look.

Thanks for the welcome and making me double check!

I would say the latch mechanism has failed as I seem to recall the electric child lock also disables the window from working.

As you canââ,¬â,,¢t open the door itââ,¬â,,¢s going to be interesting to get at it,you need to try and remove the panel with door closed and then access rear of the latch to mechanically open it.
