Side light bulb replacement

I have a 2009 mk3 Galaxy (09 plate).

Just replaced the driver's side side light bulb - was seriously difficult and fiddly. Removed the headlamp and stuck my hand down blindy.
Have done this twice in the space of a couple of years.

Dreading when I have to do the other side (passenger's) since there is no access through engine bay.

Will have to remove the unit. Manual says remove bolts (2 or 1) from underside. Not sure how many for my car - anyone know?
When I tried to find the screws the other day through the access holes the extension rod went some way up without finding anything - any suggestions?

Might need to remove plastic underskirt, anyone know how to do this?

You've got a mk3 not a mk2 - If you go to the next section down on the forum that would be the right one for your car. I've found sometimes its easier to just remove the headlight from its fixings and pull it forward, not sure if that applies for the mk3 as I've never been anywhere near one (and they are completely different from the mk1/2's so you can't use them as any sort of guide)

Confusing are you saying I have a Mk2 not a Mk3, because I have posted on the mk3 section?

I would imagine heââ,¬â,,¢s saying you have a MK3 because your original post commenced with the following sentence:

ââ,¬Å"I have a 2009 mk3 Galaxy (09 plate).ââ,¬Å"

Mind you, I have no idea why it was necessary to say it, but thatââ,¬â,,¢s another question.

Thank you.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

Having thought about this question, my hypothesis is that my friend brianh thought he was looking at the MK2 forum when he saw your post and therefore guided you to post in the MK3 forum - even though you were already there.

Thank you

Thanks for all the admin posts -now all cleared up I think.
It would be useful if someone could respond to the question about removing the sidelight on a MK3

I don't know if you have seen this "how to" I done years ago below.

I feel external bulbs should be replaceable on the side of the road and not have to dismantle the car for what should be a simple job.
this applies to all vehicles not just Galaxy's.

I have seen it, but I think your car is a Mk2. There seems to be a difference between the mk2 and mk3.

Definitely MK3 2012 Titanium.
At the time of writing the only difference was the securing screw (s) two on the early MK3 models.

Just had to replace the washer pump. In the process removed the fog/side light (did really need to do this).

This model (early MK3) has 2 bolts holding the lamp, accessible from 2 holes through the bumper from underneath.

Removing the whole lamp is the only way to get to these bulbs (near side). Not possible through wheel arch (too much other sh*t in the way).
