Powerfold wing mirrors malfunctioning

Hi guys, how are u all? I hope u have all been having a nice summer.

My 2006 Alhamb has powerfold electric mirrors.

One of the mirrors feels very slightly loose... the mounting into the door frame is solid and secure, but the main mirror housing wobbles up and down a little. When I fold my mirror out electrically, sometimes it doesnââ,¬â,,¢t stop where it should and springs out all the way.Occasionalky it stops in the right place but only takes a very gentle push to make it spring out all the way (folded back on itself) again. Even when it stops in the right place, it can be folded back in against the car extremely easily... there is no resistance nor does it feel like itââ,¬â,,¢s being held in place.

Additionally, it makes all sorts of clunks and clicks when itââ,¬â,,¢s folding in and out.

Any ideas guys? Or is it time for a new mirror housing thing?

Thank you

Sounds like a new mirror needed, most likely part of the mechanism on pivot is bust

Yeah not much you can do when it gets to that stage, its worn the plastic collar away hence the slop. There is no adjustment in the mirror fold movement so its dead Jim!

Drat. Thank you for confirming. It was almost as if the bit holding the housing onto the side mount needed to be tightened up somehow but I couldnââ,¬â,,¢t see a nut. Youââ,¬â,,¢re absolutely right that itââ,¬â,,¢s something to do with that collar.

Could I buy one thatââ,¬â,,¢s the wrong colour and change the housing bit?

There is a guy selling one on eBay in the right colour but he communicates like a moron and Iââ,¬â,,¢m not entirely convinced that the one he is selling is indeed a powerfold one
