Warning about petrol fuel filter

Hello,

This is a warning for people who would replace their petrol fuel filter. So here is the story:
I only went to the official Ford dealership for the maintenance of my car but since last year I quit the garage and now I do everything myself. I found out the fuel filter hasn't been replaced in 12 YEARS!! So the fuel filter in the car was a Bosch, installed in the Ford garage so I ordered a Bosch filter with the same part number online. The picture shows the result:

The new one is longer, however the part number is the same. Because it is longer it doesn't fit in the bracket. After a long discussion I got my money back. I asked them for a reason what went wrong but they said it is a fault from the manufacturer (just to get me silent I think). I enden up buying a Mann filter in a local store. I mailed Bosch for this issue but I never got an answer from them.

So be aware if you buy a Bosch petrol fuel filter. If other people know what could be wrong, feel free to let me know.

I donââ,¬â,,¢t take my car to the garage to be serviced these days because many of them donââ,¬â,,¢t do much as far as I can tell. Lots of fluffy talk but no actual work. I often think itââ,¬â,,¢s just a money spinner for them. 100 point check, 6 for visual inspection of the windows, that sort of thing. ââ,¬Å"Replacing vital fluidsââ,¬Â, it sounds so important doesnââ,¬â,,¢t it but itââ,¬â,,¢s far short of all the other stuff they should be doing too. I want my brake fluid changed, hinges greased, engine bay cleaned, rubber hoses checked... a real service! Thorough!

Also always mark your components with a scratch or marker pen and be very specific about what you want them to do and make sure they give you the old parts back. Check the oil level when you get the car back too, many of them canââ,¬â,,¢t get that right for some reason.

I get where you are coming from but reality is they wonââ,¬â,,¢t clean your engine bay as itââ,¬â,,¢s not a service item and brake fluid will not be changed unless you authorise it as itââ,¬â,,¢s a chargeable item every 2 years and not part of the standard service regime.

Not all garages are the same there are some really good ones out there that are given a bad name by the handful of rogue ones.
