Hi there ... newbie here ... not sure if i am on the right section for mechanical issues , if i am not please accept my apologies .. I recently bought a mk2 ford galaxy 1.9tdi of a friend , the car failed mot on a few items ,2 of which were outer cv boots  ,the other was a broken front spring, the car was running and driving 100% prior to the fitting of the new outer boots ( gaiters ) .. after fitting the new gaiters and replacement front shock ( secondhand from local scrapyard ) the car developed a serious judder through the steering wheel and heavy vibration through the whole car , it was awful and i decided to change both complete shafts either side .. Q. is there a left and right to these shafts ? they both seem to be the same size ... Q. is there a particular way they have to go on ? i have left both drive cups in the gearbox so that i dont lose any gear oil or make a mess .. any advise appreciated ..
