Radio not working

Hi Guys, I changed the battery on the car and the Radio does not work, hopefully a blown fuse. Any idea where the radio fuse is located in the fuse box either the footwell or engine. Itââ,¬â,,¢s a 2009 mk3 galaxy. Thanks Andy

Hi, Just a follow up from this last post. Would anyone know if there is a fix for the cars stereo/sat nav/ Bluetooth system as neither is working, I have located the fuse in the fuse box and it hasnââ,¬â,,¢t blown. I have replaced the Bluetooth module behind the glovebox/dash and still nothing happening. I have tested all fuse box fuses in all 3 locations, passenger footwell, bonnet and rear panel and itââ,¬â,,¢s doing my head in, any help much appreciated. Cheers

If you changed the battery without using a slave, you would normally get the request for a pin number - this is not happening?

I've got similar problem. Left car at the airport for 4 days, then radio would not came on at all.
Was wondering if you found what the problem was with yours?

I wonder if you had perhaps left a courtesy light switched on? Maybe on of the lights in the back which are difficult to see? Or perhaps you left a dash cam plugged in. Maybe there was even something else like parking lights left on. I suspect we shall never Be able to find out!

Now then. The issue remains of whether your battery is on its way out. Does the vehicle have a nice strong crank in the mornings? If you put a multimeter on the terminals, does it give a nice solid floating voltage of over 12.6v? Further, how old is said battery? If itââ,¬â,,¢s more than 5 years (or 4 in the case of a cheapo brand), it might be time to think about binning it and getting a new one.

Did you know it is possible to get the health of the battery comprehensively checked by a garage that has a battery load checker? Maybe you could go to your friendly local garage and ask them to do a load test on the battery. That would tell you everything you need to know.

It is common to experience battery issues in the winter, when the engine is cold and takes longer to crank and we all start putting on luxury features such as heated glow plugs for engine, heated seats, heated front and rear windscreens, air conditioning (to demist those windows - always make sure they are clear before you drive off!), lights, powerful car stereos with high-definition subwoofers and bass boxes, dash cams, reversing cameras, phone chargers, headrest TVs for the kids plugged into games consoles, interior courtesy and reading lights, power inverters for charging laptops, dog lights, auxiliary heating systems, in-car refrigeration and food warming units, and all those other everyday essentials upon which we are all so reliant in this day and age of personal conveniences.

So well worth getting that battery checked. Always better safe than sorry. Thank you

I've checked the battery and is fine. Car starts as it should, everything else works perfectly fine. It might be the spike when I started it after few days? I checked fuses and they're fine. The only one (if there is any) I haven't checked yet, is the radio fuse at the back of the unit itself. Don't understand how it just died and nothing coming on, even the main display at the dash is only showing two options available "Settings and Trip computer".
I'll check the unit outside to confirm it still OK, then trace voltage back.

Does the MK3 have a removable fascia like the older units did? (Not sure if it does or not, but the older units would let you remove the section with the middle preset buttons on it, this wasn't a good design as when it gets older, the pins behind it fail to make contact so well, and then stop the radio doing anything, solution is to clip it back in place, or if its got really loose, wedge it with a piece of cardboard).

The mark 3 will have same unit as a lot of other fords that is controlled on the canbus network,I highly doubt itââ,¬â,,¢s a fuse but more of a software glitch.

I have heard of the canbus being dragged down by the air con switch on another ford so may be worth a look.

Also worth a battery disconnect for half hour to reset things see if that helps.

As long as u have a 12v supply there, why not take the opportunity to rip out the stock radio and put in a decent Kenwood DAB head unit or suchlike

I was thinking about it, but it is a Sat nav with digital display on dash, not sure if the radio and other options will be still available at the dash?

I doubt aftermarket stuff will be available at dash,usually it is all contained within the head unit on aftermarket.

Have you tried the basics like a code read and disconnect battery for half hour?

Just bought new battery, left it disconnected for just over an hour, reconnected and.... Still the same, radio not working (and engine management came on). Removed radio and checked fuse at the back- all fine, checked power cables 12.36V.
No idea what else can I do? Clearly main supply is fine, maybe the unit itself has gone.

Might be an idea to check the ground as well if you haven't already done so - just in case its something silly like a broken wire or loose ground point. Otherwise it looks like the radio has had it. When your checking the fuse, is that with a meter or just looking at it? (i'd assume the meter is being used given you clearly have one to measure the voltage in the first place?)
