CV Boot keeps slipping

Is my CV boot missing some accessory or something to keep it in place?

3 years back MOT adviced the same.
Last year CV boot was changed
And this year the grand-finale: CV joint failed.

Root cause, the genuine TPS CV boot keeps slipping off.

Please advice.

Has it got a metal band clip on the small end? Canââ,¬â,,¢t quite tell from picture

Removed during checkup, but the point is that CV boot keeps slipping up, and then gets loose. There should be something to hold it in place?

Usually a slight groove in shaft that boot sits on then the clip holds it tight

Yes bud, Seen it, but it keeps slipping off. I was hoping that something might push against the CV boot?

maybe  move small end towards outer boot, avoiding the groove ? use metal clip as tie wraps slip eventually.

If itââ,¬â,,¢s not holding on the groove and itââ,¬â,,¢s a genuine boot the clip hasnââ,¬â,,¢t been done tight enough.

mine stay on (and always have) with a simple cable tie, altho if it is too wide it wont get into the grove!! also, be sure that the seatting surfaces are dry and free of grease (yes, laughably difficult).. once i started doing this i never had a single one come loose

We used a "screwable" jubilee clip or whatever it is called. Holding so far.

I use 2 x large hoseclips on those stupid hard plastic Renault cv boots.

I don't think this is the same problem but just for interest, I have had three different makes of drive shaft on my 2008 sharan2.0 diesel and as I tighten up the inner gearbox flange bolts the inner rubber boot gets stretched so tight that the first one spilt within a few days. The only way to stop this is to slacken the small clip from around the shaft and let the boot slide along the shaft to it's natural position, it's as though the drive shafts are too short which makes me worry that I might one day hit a pot hole and the shaft  pull out of the inner cup.
