Hello,

Has anybody had any joy in re synchronizing their key for the Alhambra? . . . . . I have carried out the instructions in the manual once, twice, . . . . twenty times!!!
The lights all flash and the red light on the key flashes five times but still nothing!

Is there another way or have any dealers ever supported people with this without asking for a load of money?

Thanks

The Galaxy fobs are known to fail in such a way that the lights come on, but fail to actually give out a signal. The Alhambara and Sharan use a different fob to the galaxy but i'd imagine you can find they fail in the same way. I've had someone helpfully lose my only working remote key, and the "tested" ones available from eBay don't work (it doesn't help that alot of the sellers don't seem to know if they are vw, Seat or Ford fobs they are selling).

Do you get the light on the drivers door coming on when you turn the key in the lock 3 times?

The red light does come on in the door. I had lost it previously as I had broken wires in the loom which I eventually fixed after taking of the door card and taking the entire loom out. I know that that when I replaced the batteries in the key recently that there is a small black rectangular block, about 4mm long, that comes out easily, I wonder if this can be the culprit? But the lights flash on the key just as the manual says it does.
I have read about people talking about the remote control module could it be this?
I have a ford Galaxy that my neighbor has gifted me as he is scrapping it so I have access to a few spares if anything can be useful.
Thanks again.

The small block that comes out easy is the immobiliser chip this is only for starting the car so will not have any effect on the remote fob.

I am assuming the remote side of things will be same for all models is it worth trying to program the fob on the donor car or donor card fob to yours? That way assuming they do indeed work on same frequency etc you can prove/disprove if it is actually the key at fault??

Except for the little block thing and obviously the key bit, the remote fob bits are interchangeable between VW, Seat and Ford, as long as the frequency number on the side is the same.
I bought some Seat ones at a car boot for Ã,£3 each and re-programmed  them to my car, and they work fine.

johnnyroper, what do you mean by programming the fob? the key works manually and all the electrics work I just can't understand why I can't re sync hte key. I have repaired the loom so it can't be that anymore . . . . .

The fob is the remote part which is what you re sync with the procedure locking/unlocking door etc.

The key works manually to lock and unlock, using the drivers door and the boot. the central locking also works from the button inside on the drivers door. It is just the the remote control is not working from the key so i can't seem to control the alarm!!! I have taken out the fuse no 27 so that the alarm doesn't sound and bother my neighbours but the hazards still flash for 30 seconds or so when I open the car. it is fine when I drive it but when i am opening doors or the boot to put things in the car it is a bit of a pain. I have noticed that the key does feel a bit tight to turn in the lock, but when i turn it again it is moving freely, though if i turn it the opposite direction it is tight again though moves freely when turning again. . . . I was hoping that there would be a simple solution as it looks like a common problem. . . .

Donââ,¬â,,¢t worry about the central locking, door lock or key the part you need to think about is the actual remote.
Try using your key in door lock to activate program mode then try and program remote from your donor car. If that works your key is at fault if it doesnââ,¬â,,¢t work thereââ,¬â,,¢s an issue with your car.

johnnyroper, and what is the actual remote? is there a control module or something? I have heard people say there is a module under the passenger seat and others that it is above and behind the fuse panel . . not the easiest place to get at. Before I repaired the wiring loom I had no red light on my door and the windows were a bit intermittent but now I have the flashing red light and the electric windows work with no hassle at all. I wonder if there is a difference in the two keys? is one the master and the other the spare? although both have batteries and have buttons . . .

when i try to synchronize the red light flashes as usual but should it flash more rapidly or something? the key does indeed flash five times but nothing happens. Every time I try it i have a bit less hope!!

Been looking with interest there seems to be a difference of opinion, some say the door led should be on but NOT flashing once in program mode others say it should be flashing.

been a while since I did mine so canââ,¬â,,¢t remember what LED did all I know is the method in ref library worked for me.

The remote/fob whatever you want to call it  is the button part of the key,the part in the car is the receiver

and this receiver is it the module that is under the seat according to the picture that I shall try sand attach . .

I have a Ford Galaxy for breaking I wonder if I could use this?

I have successfully butchered a few parts from it . .

Thnaks again for taking the time to reply!

When I try with my key, the LED flashes so maybe it shouldn't be for it to work, the manual doesn't give any more clues.

It can also be the time taken between initially turning the key the three times.

Is the sentence below what you are using.

Ok so put the key into the lock..
with the car locked..turn the key forward to the unlock position 3 times..holding it in the unlock position for approx 1 second at a time..make sure you do not lock and unlock the car whilst doing this..its more a half turn of the key..

You should see the led inside the door panel remain constant red..ok remove the key and hold the lock button down on the remote..press the unlock button 3 times within about1.5 seconds of each other..
the remote light should flash 5 times...

now try pressing the unlock and lock for the remote..should be working fine?

I followed this and mine worked as described.

As for the receiver best bet is compare the numbers see if they are the same, even if not itââ,¬â,,¢s worth trying the one off your donor see if it works

It is also worth trying the remote from donor car see if that works. If it does your remote is kaput
