Donor car questions

Hello all,
Over the last couple of months, my sharan TDI 4motion has had terminal engine problems resulting in its total failure. Rather than rebuilding the current knackered engine, I've decided to buy a donor sharan TDI. Its a slightly newer good runner with lower mileage.
I'm aiming to start the engine swap tomorrow morning which I'm hoping will go smoothly.
I've never done a complete engine swap in one of these so I have a few questions.
In changing the complete engine, will I be able to just plug and play the replacement into my engine wiring? Or is the ecu coded to the engine?
If the ecu needs to be swapped over too, will it need coding into the car?
I want to use other parts from the donor car to improve mine too.
Its got cruise control so I definitely want to try and swap that over but I'm not sure what's involved in doing it. I'm grateful for and advice.
Its got electric opening rear quarter glass too which I'd like to have. Is this something that can be swapped? Does anyone know if the wiring is there in all of the looms as standard. I've never checked!
I going to use the working eberspacher heater too as mine isn't there. That should be straightforward enough though.
My heater controls don't fully work properly either, the AC doesn't work anyway but the AC button only illuminates in speed position 1. The donor car's heater controls seem to work perfectly so they will be swapped over too.
Can the instrument cluster be swapped over so I keep the mileage correct to the engine? Also, does anyone know if the clocks are different on the cruise control models?
Thanks for reading.
I'm looking forward to your replies.

The engine can be swapped straight over ecu wont need swapping. Assuming you have same bhp lump on the donor injectors etc wonââ,¬â,,¢t need swapping. The 115 are different to 130 and 150 As is the turbo.

No idea about your other questions @Mirez will be the man to answer this for you.

Yes both engines are AUY 115PD

Straight swap over then just lift out with ancillaries and look loom on and swap over, is it same gearbox aswell?
If I remember correctly from other posts easiest way is front end off and take the lump out the front of car.

it is indeed easy to take out engine trough front. it took me about 4 hours in slow pace working alone
Buying this car after knowing all common problems feels bit sadistic, but then again, my main income is from growing potatoes in arctic.

I was told by someone else i knew (that had done it) that the rear power windows were fairly simple to transplant, I'm fairly sure the loom is there from what he said about it, but never checked myself (they are useful as long as you remember to close them when locking the car rather than leaving them open as I've done a few times).

Thanks guys.
I need to change the cross member anyway as its rotten. So its all coming out of the bottom. I'll be fitting the 4wd gearbox back onto the donor engine but all the rest will go in.

Sorry late to the party but yes, very simple swap from a technical point of view!

Cruise on a TDI is all electronic. Fit the clutch switch, stalk and code it. Done.

If you have electric 2nd row Windows then there is a very high chance the rear quarter wiring will be in place. It's only normally missing on front electric window only cars.

Eberspacher is direct swap unless the newer doner car has the updated one, depends how much newer it is.

Clocks can't be swapped as they contain half of your immobiliser and are paired to the cars AntiTheft module and ECU. You can normally swap them all but, being a 4mo, your ecu will have a different map so needs to stay. There is no difference between a cruise and non cruise cluster, it's just a software option.

Thanks mirez,
Ironically, the donor has only electric front windows and electric rear 1/4 windows.
Where do I find the clutch switch? The rest I'll strip out easily.

Clutch switch should be on the clutch pedal itself.
