Door Locks

I have a problem on my wife's galaxy. The door key only locks the boot and the drivers door. None of the other doors lock via the key in either method.  I have removed the connector in the front door but can't see any damage to any wires.  I appreciate that this is a common issue but most often when I look at posts the advice is to check the front drivers side door wiring or the boot. What I am trying to do is to pin point the problem. Can anyone say whether the fault I have, is down to door wiring , boot wiring or even the locking module.  The front door plug is an absolute bastard to get in and out and I am not keen on taking the door wiring out one by one if I can avoid it!
If it has any bearing the door locking button on the drivers door doesn't work either.  All windows work on all doors.

Any advice please?

Many thanks

BJ

Got exactly the same problem on my 52 plate Sharan.  Im 99.9 % certain its the central electronics unit. As far as i can tell you need to buy one with the exactly the same part number.  I have checked all the door looms and boot loom and was surprised just how perfect the wiring still is. Seen them on Ebay 2nd hand for around Ã,£60. Only reason I haven't fixed it yet is i cant see my part number.

Thanks Marcus - not sure that I feel any better knowing that someone else has the same issue but thanks for the heads up.

Hi BJ don't stop at just checking the front doors the rears can also affect.

Long story short I just had an issue with our 52 reg the dash light and every other inside illumination and number plate lights staying on all the  time with everything turned off and all plastic fuses (60 plus) removed.
After many hours unplugging stuff turned out to be three wires in the n/s/r passenger door, one wire being the feed to electric windows from a maxi fuse by the relays touching the illumination feed to the window switch.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

My 53 plate tdi had similar problems
the drivers door and tailgate were the only ones that worked reliably
even after checking and repairing any iffy looking cables, but it was still a PITA.
Recently after seeing Nialls post and pics on door locks, I removed the near side door lock stripped it down and
found the commutator was bridging.
Since fixing it I have all doors working AOK again ! Woo Hoo!
Second hand locks may be no better than what you have BTW

I meant near side REAR door lock

Why no post edit function on this forum?

That's a good point reg,  was you getting a fault code for that, short to earth? On rear doors?.

Never read the fault codes Marcus
No warning lights on dash, just bloody annoying
having to check and manually lock/unlock the doors every time.
I though at first I'd probably have to do the other doors but (fingers crossed)
It now all works as it should.

Well you got lucky then lol. You know what im going to strip mine down because thinking about it osr played up a couple of times before it all went to osr nsr and nsf. So im going to strip osr it to bits and repair that 1st as i have nothing but an hour of my time to lose.
