Re wiper stopping and starting when activated

Hi guys,

On to the next issue.
When I turn on the rear wiper it keeps stooping whilst in motion.
Any suggestions as to what I should look at that could be causing the fault.
All cables are now in good condition.

Get a multimeter on the wires in to motor and check voltage when itââ,¬â,,¢s running,if itââ,¬â,,¢s steady then looking at motor fault,if itââ,¬â,,¢s fluctuating when motor stops this points to relay fault in my opinion

It might be worth removing it from the hole through the glass and seeing if it moves any better, may be a lack of lubrication like the front wipers suffer from causing the problem rather than an actual fault in the motor itself. The rear ones are usually fairly reliable, though as said above it does sound like the kind of fault you might get with a bad joint on a relay.

Just reading your other post about the heater issues - check the ground point on the other side of the car (the one on the drivers pillar). Not sure 100% but would suspect that one is where the boot loom earths back to, and wouldn't be surprised if its either loose or not properly connected in some way like the one on the passenger side.

I will have a look on TIS if your still struggling and see if any useful info can be found on it there.

remove & strip it down; water gets in down the wiper spindle on to brass contact tracks---clean them up. clean wiper shaft till spotless then put Vaseline in the part of the motor it passes through (as you re-assemble) that will stop water doing it more damage.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Believe it or not I only just got around to sorting this this week.
I tested the power supplies but all seemed fine.
So I removed the motor and cleaned and lubed everything, bent the two contact tabs behind the gear wheel to make sure they had good contact.
There was no obvious signs anything was causing the problem.
Drilled out the old washer jet and replaced with new.
Now all works as it should
