Hi again Guys,
After finally fixing my head gasket issue, I`m now wondering about another fix. I feel a crunch whilst changing from 1st to 2nd (but not if I change at very low revs) the clutch itself bites at a sensible level but can be heard `spinning` occasionally?

Cheers.

Would be an idea to check the fluid level in the brake cylinder and try bleeding the clutch circuit through. Sounds like you have air in the circuit to me, which will reduce the travel of the slave cylinder. Though if its whining the slave cylinder probabbly isn't in the best condition, but I'd leave it alone until its more evident its a problem (difficulty changing gears, lack of drive/clutch slipping or any other reason to pull the box off).

When you say spinning do you mean the clutch is slipping?

The crunch you describe could be a worn clutch, worn synchro or the gearbox shaft shim?

As above I would try a bleed and also a fluid change of gearbox can help using good quality oil
