What is the best way to bypass the water pipes for egr cooler? I have that off and all blanked off, kept the anti shudder valve body with the actual egr valve and blanked off the flanges. I have connected the water pipe that is supposed to come out of the egr cooler straight to the aux water pump and the flange on the head. Just making sure that's the correct way. Turns out after I just did my head gasket... The problem was in the cooler... There was some strange looking milkshake like stuff around the egr valve and intake..

When I did mine I linked the intake coolant hose direct to the aux heater coolant pump,I just had to use some spira wrap as hose was touching the fuel filter with new set up.

Although there was some ââ,¬Ëœmilkshakeââ,¬â,,¢ stuff in cooler I doubt that was giving the head gasket symptoms, when coolers fail they cause burning of coolant but not pressurising the cooling system. Now you have done head and cooler you should be all set for many more trouble free miles.

When you remove the egr seut do you leave the pipe for tha balve on or cap it with a bolt? It's all blanked off with plates anyway.

You would be best to leave it looking as if it does work as far as possible. In most places tampering with the emission controls will cause it to fail whatever regular inspection you might have (in the UK the MOT will fail if the EGR has been prevented from working, if they notice it, hence a blanking plate is the simplest way to stop it without being noticed).

If it is blanked with plates anyway I would stick a ball bearing in the vac pipe just to negate against any future vac leaks and it still looks totally standard of refitted back on the valve.
