Iso wiring for new head unit

Guys, I have pulled the rcd200 out of my 2006 Sharan. To wire in the new Kenwood I got an ISO harness, this seems to all fit as expected including the radio Ariel adapter.

I have an issue with power though, specifically the ignition live doesn't appear to work, ie all the wires are connected but the new head into dosent switch off by itself, looks like the power cable is supplying 12v regardless of ignition status.

I can switch it off manually but surely that can't be right. I have tried switching the connectors around which in the past and in other cars seemed to work, but to no o ail.

The iso kit comes with a Seperate longer wire for ignition live.....the kit was from a T5 transporter but am I meant to root this to the fuse box to another ignition live?

Try swapping the ignition and perm live over, usually HU wiring has these made to be swapped. With insulated bullet connectors on them. From memory it is the yellow and red wires you need to swap.
Sounds like the perm feed from car is going to the HU ignition input and vice versa.

That was my first thought mate, but makes not difference, both are getting power all the time with the ignition off, so both ways around the head unit is on all the time

Sorted, used a piggy back fuse holder on the horn fuse (number 6) it's doing ignition live for the head unit and power for the dash cam.

Thatââ,¬â,,¢s a bit odd did you check the wiring car side to see if there is ignition feed at that or if there is an issue giving 12v perm at both the wires?

The stereo feed doesn't cut till you pull the ignition key fully out of the barrel under normal circumstances, I don't know if the feed is directly through the ignition switch or a relay (i'd suspect a relay) but would wonder if one or the other of those has failed in some way that its stuck on?

Removing the plug from the ignition switch should tell you if its that causing the problem?

Incidientally I did have the reverse problem on my mk1 - it wouldn't always switch on straight away, would sometimes take a couple of miles to work properly, Swapped out the head unit to try and sort it to find it was the ignition switch, the normal resting place for pos 2 had worn so much that it wouldn't make good contact, the key would eventually work its way back slightly and thats what made the radio work properly. Swapped ignition switch to sort that.
