I am a new member on the site from denmark so please excuse my bad English.

We have a FORD Galaxy with the following breakdown case.

The automatic transmission have worked nice until in a period of approximately 4 days where I noticed a small delay in the response when speeding up or deaccelerating the car. I took the car to my garage and after driving 100 metres with the mechanic we heard a bang and we could not drive further.

The drive axle on the right side are not turned by the outgoing  axle from the differential anymore and we are now facing to buy a complete new gearbox and differential.

The car have got all services from Ford garages and this is documented.

I have the transmission oil on my list of poosible root causes for the fault but i don't know yet.  The car have only drived 95 000 km and is in very good shape.
There was now warnig lights or indications before the accident. The only symptom was a small respons delay and a small clicking sound thiees last 4 days, i suspected a bearing in the suspension before the final full stop of the gearbox.

The Ford company in Denmark we bought the car from have totally neglected any help or assistance to us in this case.

Questions:   Have anybody experienced similar fault ?

What was the rootcause for the fault ?   ( Oil quality , cracks or just bad quality of the gear or what )

I would really appreciate some assistance in this very expencive and frustrating case.      The car have now been standing 4 months waiting for a solution.

best regards

Gearbox oil and filter change at 37,000miles (50,000km?)?  If not, there is your root cause.  There are also issues with early gearboxes having problems with plastic internals breaking up.  Or, as you say, you may have just been unlucky to have a defective bearing or something similar.
