Xenon headlights washer jets

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows whether the washer jets are meant to work every time the windscreen is washed (with the headlights on)? If so mine are not functioning correctly.

There is lots of useful info here, but I don't know whether it relates to the Mk 3 / S-Max as well as the Mk 2:

Washer jets works only if headlights are on and every 4th windscreen wash.
Or after 10 minutes (not rly sure) with every windscreen wash.
