Programming A Second Key Fob

Hello, I've just introduced myself on the intro's board. I've recently purchased an 07 plate Sharan. Due to initial issues with the central locking which the dealer I purchased from has sorted for me I do have one slight issue I'd like some help with. I've got two remote key fobs, one of which is now out of programming for my car. I know how to reset the key fob to the car (turn to unlock three times until solid light comes on in the door....press key on the key fob and hold and press other key 3 times and release both together....lights flash on the car 6 times and on key fob five times)...but what is the procedure when setting up my second key fob. I stood by the car tonight for 30 minutes trying to do both together but can only get one to work at a time. Both will work...just not together. I am sure it is to do with the timing of when I programme the second key. Would someone out there please let me know the secret of doing two remote key fobs at the same time ? It's been doing my head in tonight.

Enter programming mode then do key one immediately followed by key two. Once in programmng mode you dont touch the car again between keys.

I was having a similar problem.  Turned out that the RFID chip in the second key had failed.  It seems, also, that the RFID chip dropping out when changing batteries is quite common as the fob gets older.
