Title says it all really! I dont understand how either,

unlocked the car put the keys in the ignition but didnt turn it
popped the bonnet
closed the door
walked to bonnet and heard the doors all locked.

so now the only key i have is locked in the car. help please friends!!!

Do you have manual or electric rear windows?
Iââ,¬â,,¢ve forced my rear windows down in the past to get in.

Do you have AA cover as they would come and assist I would think.

Failing that you could try getting something in through door seal like a metal coat hanger to try and unlock car,I canââ,¬â,,¢t remebrr for life of me if there is lock/unlock button on drivers door panel by window switches??

Once you gain access have a check of the door open switch as that should stop auto re locking if a door is opened.

You can 'manipluate' the rear windows as above if they are manual but the electric ones wont allow that. There is an unlock button on the drivers panel you should be able to hit with a long solid object like a welding stick. Failing that, and assuming no recovery company, you can remove the 3rd row window relatively easily...

I know it's an old topic but anyways, good advice is to never ever ever leave your keys inside with windows rolled up. If you have to leave your key inside always roll the window down or place something between the doors and the chassis so the doors won't close, it might save you from a lot of hassle  ;D

I always thought I was paranoid doing that, but it just feels natural to wind down the driver side window whenever I get out and leave the keys in the ignition (for example when checking the lights on my small hobby trailer)

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I've known the car to lock itself when your inside it, and I've known of a couple of people managing to lock themselves out of their own car in the same way so its definitely a good idea to leave the window rolled down just in case. Better still to take the keys out though.

The other consideration here is that the Alhamb (and Galaxy etc) has such an excellent security system that it does something to the locking so that u can't even pick the locks to get back inside. I believe it's called "double locking" and somehow disconnects the internal rods and so on from the handle and key area so as to stop crooks from breaking in manually using a "slim jim" or whatever it is they use these days to try and wiggle it all open. Very high tech but I imagine a real pain if u lock urself out by accident!

p.s. I think u have to press the lock button twice on the remote for it to activate this "double locking" feature.

It would be nice if the car gave a little honk when it's locked so u know it locked itself successfully (sometimes, in my case, passengers don't slam the door shut properly and so the car doesn't lock itself when u press the button... has caught me out on more than just a few occasions, usually when in a hurry at Tescos or such places although these days I tend to do internet grocery shopping because I had a bad experience in Tescos and the place does my head in now, I can never find anything and the queues and hassle are just too much really). And maybe a double-honk if it has used the "double lock" system.
