 Hello to the Forum members,

I have a problem with my car and would appreciate any help or advise.
My car is used most days and had been starting and running fine

I went to start my car on Monday evening, it cranked over, fired once or twice but wouldn't start. I tried a few more times, it cranked ok but nothing. i decided to leave it till the next day and see if it would start, if not i'd call the RAC for a home start.

It wouldn't start the next day so called out the RAC for a home start. He worked on it for about 30 mins trying different things and informed me that there was "no spark" and he "thinks" it's the crank sensor but couldn't be sure as my car is a bit to old for his diagnostic equipment??!!??..i found that odd as the MK2 runs to about 2006, correct me if i'm wrong.

I'd like to know how easy it is to fit a new crank sensor. Tools needed, how to access it etc.
also, any other help or advice as to other likely reasons it wont start should it not be the Crank Sensor.

Thanks for any help or advice offered  :)

Andy

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Thanks for your reply and link it is appreciated, It is something i will  investigate, having read up on this relay issue it does seem to stop the engine cranking over too, on mine i do have cranking ok.

Would you know how i can access the crank sensor??..can i get to it from the engine bay or would i need to jack the car up and remove the shroud and access it from underneath?
