Trying to find VAG-COM measuring block values for central locking

I'm trying to resolve an issue with the door locks on my car which I've posted here https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy/yet-another-door-lockopening-issue/ I realise it is generally bad form to post two threads for the same issue I think my question for this fault is different enough that it warrants a new thread.

I have VAGCOM but I don't know how to find the Measuring Block values to get the live data for the door lock system. I've tried reading Ross-Tech's web site http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/m-blocks.php but I still don't understand how you find the measuring block valve other than blindly starting at 000 and clicking up until you get to 255

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Hey Pete, what version are you using as there are differences on how to find the measuring blocks between them.  If its the older version then it is, a relatively manual process of going up the blocks although in reality you'll only get to 70ish before the data stops. If its the newer version then you can click advanced, this brings up a list of all channel titles and you can then select the ones you want.

To add to what Mark said is yours the registered or free version? When I had the free version a lot of the measuring blocks were not available until I paid the $99 to register it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm using version 409 but unfortunately I've been called into work tomorrow so it might be a day or so before I can rescan the car for the measuring blocks.

If I learn something useful to others i'll post it back here.

I've tried scanning the car for the measuring blocks with both the version of VAG-COM I had and also with VCDS-lite, both give the same results. Going up through the block I can see values but there aren't labels for the these values thus the information is meaningless.

I've checked all the door looms for damaged wires and repaired what I can find. These are the current faults that show.

01146 -  Central Locking Motors; Front Passenger and Rear Doors Locked        29-10 -  Short to Ground - Intermittent
01142 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs        29-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent

Any ideas?

All resolved.

Having bought a Haynes manual for the wiring diagrams I noticed the diagram showed fuse 27, 32 and 75 are related to the central locking. However according to the manual and this link https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-common-faults-and-problems/ford-galaxy-mk2-fuse-information-circuit-and-rating/ fuse 27 only powers the auxilary heater and the sunroof and does nothing for the central locking.

On this car fuse 27 was missing. Why, I don't know but I'd only checked for blown fuses and as the car hasn't had a working auxiliary heater for years and it doesn't have a sunroof I didn't think it being missing was any concern. After all, there are a number of empty fuse locations for equipment that the car was never fitted with.

I replaced the fuse and most of the system worked except the front passenger door therefore I re-checked the wiring and found a high resistance on one wire so made another repair. Now the system is fully working.

I'm not too happy with the quality of the repairs but they'll do for now. I might buy some second hand looms from eBay, overhaul them and fit them.

Or wait until the better weather and have the looms out 1 by one and solder in new wires with it off, I did mine this way 2 years ago and touch wood all working fine still. Cheaper option than buying 2nd hand ones and repairing them.
