Numerous examples of them failing well before the (maximum, note) recommended change interval of 125,000/10years.  Mostly on the 1.8 but the 2 and 2.2 are not immune.  A Ford tech that I know recommends no more than 80,000 or six years, so I suspect that many more are failing than we hear about on t'internet.

The secret is to give the car a good wash and have a friendly chat with the MOT tester so that they like you and donââ,¬â,,¢t try to rip you off as much. Also if you leave a Haynes manual on the front seat and make sure they see you checking the bulbs etc before it goes in then they are more likely to pick another target

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.
