Hi all, our current family bus is a 2003 Alhambra v6 which we have had for 2 1/2 years, we love it to bits to be honest but it's starting to get a little long in the tooth, it's not running particularly great and rust is going to be an issue for the next MOT in November.

We don't do loads of miles so the v6 doesn't bother us economy wise, but we have come into a sum of money and it may be time to update.

With around Ã,£3k to spend what would people suggest, natural progression is a newer galaxy but they all seem to be diesel, so if it has to be a diesel, which size engine is recommended?

We only very rarely use all 7 seats and more usually it's 5 in the car so we would like seats that fold into the floor, not sure if the newer galaxy does this?

Thanks all

Scott

the rear seats on the mk3 do fold into the floor, have you thought about the smax, that too has seats that fold into the floor or you can get a 5 seat model.

Hi, my partner would actually prefer an smax as she thinks they are more sporty looking, we definitely need the 7 seats there are six of us in the family plus children's friends etc , but the folding seats are ideal for tip runs etc.

I see lots of 160k + mileage diesels for sale for around my price point of both smax and galaxy, we probably only do 6k a year , would these high mileage cars be a Safe bet, providing belts and servicing have been done?

Thanks
Scott

i bought my old smax with 100k on a 08 plate when it as 3 years old, didnt have a single problem with it mechanically, but like all galaxys they still suffer from wiring problems etc.

if the rear seats are always going to be used then personally go for the mk3,rear seats in a smax are really only for small children.

as older 1s now are of age for cam belt change etc,5 years or 125k make sure it has been done, also remember any car whether low mileage or galactic mileage can/will either be excellent or a crock of crap.
