hazards flashed when driving stopped when i thumped the door so i know its the door loom
disconnected the plug  sods law the locking ring came off and socket is now inside the panel

now whats got me baffled is i still get the hazards flashing and if i jiggle the loom coming out of the door it will stop or get worse
how if its not plugged in

i know if i will have grief with it when i turn on the ignition if the hazards flash then i know it will play up at some stage  no flashing when i first turn on it will be fine

just noticed now its gone quiet when i turn on the ignition i csn hear a noise from behine the clock if i wait till that noise stops and then start the car i get no flashing on start up
i have a feeling i am now starting to baffle myself and would be better giving it to someone who knows what they are doing

That hazard light fault is classic door loom shorting out symptoms, have you checked and repaired more than 1 loom and did the issue start after doing the looms?

only checked the drivers door so far as banging that one used to stop it happening
think i am going to have to hand it over to an auto electrician soon
plugged the drivers door back in inside the car as the socket had fallen out of door pillar and now drivers window doesnt open and passenger only goes down so i am just making things worse

Unplug the door loom again and make sure the small terminal blocks inside the socket are ok,I had issues with mine and found one had pushed back.

Seems odd you get the issue even with door loom disconnected and also hitting door stops it,maybe issue with the fuse box/a relay?

going to attack the nearside passenger door today previous owner has done load of repairs with chocolate blocks and have found 1 more separated  so am going to splice and solder the repairs

just took it out for a drive locked doors on fob

when lights flashed doors unlocked
am i right in assuming the only wires that could cause this are the ones to the front door locks
drivers door plug not connected so must be passenger side
is my logic right on this

Don't know if other doors or tailgate could also cause that? But I certainly thing one of them is at fault causing shorts across circuits/to ground.
You could always disconnect passenger door and see what happens?

sorted now i hope it was the back passenger side door
what a pigs ear it was
some wires soldered and heat shrunk
some used choc blocks and 4 were separated on inspection and some were just twisted together and insulating tape

i assume 3 repairs by different owners

now to fix the things i broke doing the fix

thanks for all the help

Glad you got to bottom of it.

They are fiddly enough anyway let alone if someone been there before bodging it.

added bonus display is still flashing but it does blow cold now

Air con cold or just fan circulating ambient?
