Hello Everyone

Total newb here, so firstly, hello to all!

Recently acquired a Galaxy although previously an Alhambra owner.

A few days ago the Galaxy seem to lose power and not accelerate as it had been and the auto gearbox did not seem to be changing at the right time. I also noticed that the kick down operation was not functioning. I've seen similar problems reported here and am aware of some of the possible causes.

I thought I would also share that I had to change the battery yesterday and with the new battery fitted the vehicle drove properly for the rest of the day. I thought I'd found a magic fix although I had no idea why. I don't see how the new battery could fix such a problem but then thought it might have been the act of disconnecting the battery might have cleared stored fault codes. No engine warning light has been showing.

However, today the problem has re-occured. I think my next steps will be diagnostic check and gearbox oil change. I think maybe the battery thing was a bit of a red herring and might have been a coincidence. I feel like maybe the vehicle is operating in a "limp home" mode but not sure if this happens with these vehicles.

Anyone have any thoughts on this or experience of similar situation?

Hello and  welcome5
the engine needs to be running right for the gear change to be correct.
check the engine for fault codes first as you may have a boost issue which is causing limp mode.
