In tank pump/sender unit

As I have a slight power related problem which feels like fuel starvation I thought I would check the gauze filter on electric pump first.

Upon removing it is clear the car has had tandem pump or injector problems in the past as the sender unit assembly was covered in black slime consistent with Diesel engine oil, thankfully the fuel in tank was normal colour so not a present issue.
Once the unit was stripped I found the gauze covered in debris ranging from bits of grit to what looked like silicone sealer, couldn't see much in bottom of tank apart from coating of black slime.
All back together and taken for a test run it seems better but still not what it should be like, next plan is measure the pressure the pump is delivering up to the tandem pump and go from there.

There was an issue with micro-organisms growing in diesel a few years ago.  Seemed to be one of those " if you have it, you are in trouble and you won't get rid of it" problems.  Not heard anything about it for a few years, so maybe formulations changed and it's no longer an issue.

You posted in this thread before so you must have seen this Tony but was the sludge you are referring to like this?

Fairly sure I've also previously read about corroded connections on the sender multiplug being responsible for problems as well due to it's exposed location but I would expect that to cause a non start as opposed to lack of power.
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

No mine was just general debris on the filter but the white housing and the clear pipes were used diesel oil black, same as in bottom of tank when I stuck my hand in. Definitely not the micro organisms and no where near as in that previous thread.

Did you re-replace the injector seals after you snagged one when renewing previously? No chance you're losing pressure between the feed and return galleries in the head?

No not got round to it yet as it's just causing slight loss of pressure overnight meaning extended cranking time.
I think the issue is from past injector or tandem issues as the diesel in tank and main filter is normal colour. Just surprised the residue is still there and not been washed off by the fuel in tank.
The injector seals are planned for couple of weeks when got a few days off, probably selling car after that as mrs wants something smaller like an A3.

Hi Folks,
Just to ask if someone could help as to how to access the In-tank Pump/ Sender Unit in Ford Galaxy 2011 ZETEC 2 Lit Diesel?
