Hi, looking for recommendations for a towbar, plus any experience with pulling Ifor Williams hb505  horsebox.

http://www.towinghorsetrailers.co.uk/trailer/1063

Have a 115ps mk2 manual 01 plate. Cheers.
As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never face the wrong way.

The max of trailer is 2340 kg
Which is more than the Galaxy can tow plus if you don't have grandad rights is passed before 1997 then you also are above the 3500 limit
When looking it is max weight not actual that the law looks at

Also read you can only tow 25 x nose weight which is 85 kg on galaxy which makes 2125kg
Which is also less than trailer max of 2340kg

Thought allright it may be a bit larger then the GTW.
What is the GTW of the galaxy mk 2 diesel? I'll be only transporting a 14 hand pony, so either a smaller trailer or it's van time again, back to transitville.  ???

4000Kg generally although you have to refer to your VIN plate to be sure.

The problem is that the law goes on the mam (max allowable mass )for both trailer and car
So even if your in car on own and trailer empty you would still be over and get points and a fine

Been looking at towbars new and second hand. Got quoted €80 from scrappy with electrics.

Saw this one for the same money? Anyone have any recommendations before I buy?

Thanks.

Seems cheap which imo isnt really a good thing, how often do you plan to use it? Detatchable bars make so much more sence if the budget allows else you'll be constantly clouting your shins when going to the boot.

The wiring 'kit' looks to be nothing more then a 7 pin socket and some scotchlocks which isn't ideal as you'll have no protection on the cars lighting circuits.

It's rated 2100kg and tow all weight 100kg. I assume it meets saftey standards, the seller has near 100% positive feedback and only seems to sell towbars and electrics. I'm gonna take a chance, but I took your advice and am getting this as well.

I already have gremlins; Intermittent bad earth or short to ground.

Thanks for the offer. Got a new tow bar delivered yesterday... Trouble is my DMF has gone kaput. I may use the towbar to smash up the car, or tie to my legs as I jump off the pier. Either way would be more useful ATM  :)
I'm now looking at clutch kits, and mourning over the holiday we had planned. I'm also looking at cars. Saw one yesterday that looked like it had chickens kept on it and had more rips then cloth. Only made the 2 hour bus journey cause he told me after a lengthy phone conversation there were no rips, but needed a valet...

I looked at cars myself but they hold or people over value a 200k car too much
The good ones on 2005 with 80k is 3k which I just didn't have
Unfortunately I got a grand c4 wish I'd of spent the money on the gals auto box instead
Good luck and see if Mirez has any parts

Got very lucky and got basically given a decent car mechanically very good. Kinda refreshing considering its seen as normal in the west of Ireland to rip people off when selling cars.

My last car I couldn't sell on for this reason, so hopefully karma has balanced my misfortune (being completely ripped off  tbh)
