Hi Fellows,

I recently bought Ford Smax 13 registration. The car comes with rear car entertainment system mb8008 dvd. But the previous owner did not have a remote for that DVD. Can someone please help me by telling me where to buy the dvd's remote? I called up the dealership and they said it will be 42 pounds for it. Which is expensive. Can someone please tell me which remote is used and maybe where else I can buy it?

Did you read my reply to your previous post here? I've no idea if any generic remote would work with this system, if not then you either have to a) try to find somebody selling a secondhand remote which I.M.O will be a challenge as any breakers etc. selling such an item will likely want to sell it complete with the player and rest of the system, or b) pay the Ford price for a new remote. As far as genuine parts go, having worked as a Ford partsman I don't think Ã,£42 is (relatively) that horrendous, I would have imagined it to be worse!

Thanks for your reply very useful, When i spoke to the dealer he said the only remote he could find was the one he offered me for 42 pounds but i am guessing thats for a factory fitted dvd. Now i am not sure if previous owner had it fixed or was it factory fitted. Is there a way to find out?

If you enter your chassis number into Ford ETIS it should give you a list of specifications and factory fitted equipment that the vehicle was built with. However, if you live in a different country or your vehicle was not sold in the UK I don't know if it will still work.
