Hi,i've had a search but couldn't get an answer,i removed the clock from on top of the dash and took the bulb to a few car parts shops and halfords for a replacement but had no luck,is this a main dealer only job?also does this type of bulb have a particular name?

thanks.

Not sure what bulb is fitted in them can you take a picture of it?

These are surface mount LED and difficult to replace. (Ringed in picture 1) Also they are unlikely to fail. Best bet is to get another clock from Ebay. A ford KA one fits and is much easier to see!
I'd rather be on Orkney!

OP did you de-solder the illuminating LED's or has yours got a different type?
Also thinking about it have you checked for 12v on illumination wire when lights are on as like above poster said if they are LED unlikely they would fail especially if more than one fitted.

Illumination wire is the center pin on the bottom row orange/black. LEDs appear to be quite dim so may be worth replacing with brighter ones - or not. Very difficult to solder these without proper equipment.
See pic for LEDs lit up and note the one for the adjuster is not lit.
This clock runs backwards quite a lot of the time hence the replacement from a KA.

Hi,thanks for the replys,i'll take the clock out again and post a pic as mine is different to the clocks you have shown,i'm guessing the led type were for later years.

2003 /52 seems to be the change over between bulb and LED. The Ka uses the same clock and got it a year later.

You can swap it out for the LED version which is plug and play or replace the bulb which is a 1.5w wedge on a screw base. Not the easiest to find and beware it also comes in 3w and 5w versions that will melt the plastic if used!!

One like this but the base screws in rather than half a turn type?

Are the bulbs replaceable individually or are the legs soldered to base?

OP If they are screw type I am fairly certain I have one from when I had my Subaru that could stick in post if you are struggling to get one.

Depends on the year, that type is fitied predominately but there is also a short version which has a Phillips style head that you screw into position.

Post a picture of the connector too - It'll still probably be easier to replace the whole clock if the connector is the same.

Ignore this,answered wrong message...oops

That is one where bulb tails are soldered to base contacts.

I am fairly sure I have one of those holders that bulb can be removed from and possible one the same as that also?  At work in donny tonight but will take a look when I get home tomorrow if I have one I can pop in post for you will let you know and then can get address for you then.

Blimey! not seen anything with those in since my Citroen XM - R reg. Can get LED versions in a range of colours on Ebay.

It's saying message can't be sent as your inbox is full.

I went to buy a bulb for the heater panel for my old Ford Ka once before (again, the bulb was affixed to the plastic base), although it looked similar to bulbs they had in Halfords unfortunately the Halfords one would not fit and I had to buy one from Ford, I thought it might have been the one you needed as I've still got one spare but the part number (number 14) is different so probably not. The one I've got knocking about is this:

Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Did that bulb turn up and is it the same as what you need?
